The Traveling Salesman

One day a traveling salesman got lost on a dirt country road. As he was looking at his map he saw a young boy walking toward him pulling a logging chain. As the boy got closer the traveling salesman asked, “Young man I am lost. Where are we?”

The young boy looked at him and said, “Mister, we are right here. Where did you think we where?”

The salesman said, I mean where are we here on the map?”

The young boy replied, I can’t help you there Mister. I can’t read yet.”

The salesman then asked, “Do you know how to get to the closest town?”

The young boy replied, “Yes sir I do. Would you like to know?”

The salesman said, “Yes, that would be wonderful.”

The young boy pointed down the road and said, “Just go down this road about 20 miles and you will see it just before you get on the hard road.”

The young boy then turned back in the direction he was heading, pulling the logging chain behind him.

As the young boy started down the road the salesman shouted, “Why are you pulling that chain son.”

The young boy turned and said, “Mister you ask some of the craziest question I have ever been asked, Have you ever tried pushin a chain?”
